For nine days this month, from November 17-26, Fort Myers Beach is the site for the Annual American Sandsculpting Championship. Sandsculptors from all over the country and several foreign countries come to share their art and compete for prizes. For seven dollars a ticket you can walk about the large cordoned off section of beach and check out the numerous sculptures, both finished and in-progress. There are individual competitions, doubles competitions and amateur competitions.

There also numerous vendors selling clothing, hats, jewelry, and sand art. There was a large event tent with a main stage with periodic musical entertainment and demonstrations. It was very interesting to watch the artists in action working on their pieces, and the tools and techniques they use to create these creative and very detailed pieces.
